Many people dream of touring Europe. The many countries, cultures and traditions give Europe a rich history. Many of the cities in Europe are perfect for romantic getaways. The cities that are know for being a place for romance like Paris and Venice are on the list. Some of the other entries on the list may surprise you.  Not only does this list tell you where you and your significant other can got it suggests something to do.

Florence, Italy

Florence is a city tucked in the Tuscan hills of Italy. It was a social hub during the Renaissance. It sheltered the powerful Medici family and inspired artists like Michelangelo and Brunelleschi. It has the aesthetic of the 14th century with modern luxuries. You can take your lover shopping at the boutiques lining Via Tornabuoni. Renaissance art is not the only reason to come to Florence. Watching  sunsets and eating authentic Italian cooking is all apart of  its unbeatable romantic charm.

Paris, France

Paris also known as the City of Light attract couples from all over the world. There are plenty of place to dine on some of the best cuisine in the world. You and your partner have countless museums to visit together. A romantic stroll around the city can prove to be an experience appealing to the eye.  The River Seine flows through the city taking you to any part you would like to explore. The Eiffel Tower is an attraction that is a must-see for couples. Many proposals have happened in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.  A lot of couples have a story with Paris as a the setting.


Santorini is a bright and colorful place to get away to. Its colorful beaches with black and red sands and white washed buildings are a rare sight. Couples can climb the ancient stairs that lead to the historic city of Manolas in Thirassia where you have a view of the caldera, a brilliant turquoise pool of water. Santorini has a certain mystic to it. A volcanic eruption around 1650 B.C. forced the center of what was then a single island, called Strongyli, to implode and succumb to the sea. Some say that Strongyli was the original home of the lost city of Atlantis, which long ago disappeared into the ocean’s depths.

Crete, Greece

Simply put, the island of Crete is “diverse.” Mountains, sandy beaches, palm-tree forests, and bustling modern cities all coexist with the ancient ruins. Traces of past culture like the Minoans, the Venetians, the Ottomans as well as contemporary Greeks are seen in the architecture and structure of the cities. The natural beauty of the island will put couples at ease. Romantic dinners at a local taverna or lunch date at a sidewalk café are daily activities. There are many things to do given the diverse landscape of the island. On the northern coast young couples can enjoy bars and nightclubs. Couples who enjoy the outdoors should stay on the southern end of the island.

Venice, Italy

Named the city of water for is system of canals weaving through out the entire city. A romantic, moon lite gondola ride on the grand canal while a violin serenades you seems like a scene out of a movie. In Venice it is a reality.  Literally get lost with your loved one. You’re bound to find something in the many of the storefronts, explore the history of the city at Saint Mark’s Basilica, or take in the art at the Gallerie dell’Accademia. Venice as small islands surrounding it where couples can enjoy the beach.


Vienna is rich with history, from its cobble stone roads to the classic architecture. The home of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, its like a portal to a different time. There are more modern attractions like amusements parks, and a zoo that you and your significant other can go to. There are also plenty of bars and wine taverns to get a night cap from.


Budapest is a city that appeals to many. You can enjoy each other in a thermal bath or you can go to one of the many night clubs. The Danube River splits the city into three main regions, Pest, Buda, and Óbuda. Budapest meshes modern conveniences with old architecture and tops it off with grassy parks. The dining experience is like none other. You’ll find almost every cuisine imaginable here and its affordable enough that you can sample most of them. Museums will teach about its history, and a variety of shops will give you keeps sakes to remember your time in Budapest.


Prague is a busy city that attracts more tourists than ever. Prague has persevered through many fires, flood and invasions. Its history is evident by is downtown’s structure. The old churches, statue lined bridges and castles make the city a sight seeing destination. Prague is the setting for a modern day fairytale. It’s a charming city. On top of the many sights to see, a trip to Prague is generous to your pockets, for the moment. You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy a couples retreat in this city.


Aix-en-Provence is known for its cafes and vibrant markets. It is also known as a college town. The students make this old town feel young. This is a great place for a young couple to come if they’re looking for a relaxing getaway. Luxurious spa treatments like thermal baths are one of the many thing you must experience. Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh is known for its landscape of green field and dormant volcanoes that rise above them, but there is more that meets the eye. The Dutch capital, Amsterdam is a city with no equivalent. With so much to do, this isn’t place for a boring couple. Many who have visited the city before suggest renting a house boat for a romantic stay. Amsterdam also has the Red Light District if your into that kind of stuff. The capital of  Slovenia, is often overlooked and is an underrated destination. Its a charming city and the largest in Slovenia. Ljubljana is where culture, education, economics, politics come together creating a vast and interesting society. The Butcher’s Bridge is where couples ten to go. Barcelona, Spain

You really can’t go wrong with a trip to Barcelona with the one you love. Its Spain’s most popular tourist destination. The second largest city in the country, Barcelona has a long history. It’s history can be seen in the museum and out on the streets that house some of the most beautiful sights. Located in northern Europe, being in Copenhagen is the perfect reason to cuddle with your significant other. The capital of Denmark, the city of Copenhagen has a rich history of art and literature. Zurich is perhaps the most loved city in all of Switzerland. Its romantic charm attracts couples from all over. Zurich is known for its opera houses and ballet shows and theaters.
